Invasive plants have negative impacts on natural habitats, so removing them is vital for a healthy watershed. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine while helping remove non-native vegetation in an effort to restore native plants along Malibu Creek and its many tributaries.
UPDATE: We have a great morning planned of clearing invasive pepperweed and poison hemlock along the banks of Malibu Creek. After clearing, we will be planting native shrubs (mulefat stakes)to restore the area!
Please wear sturdy shoes. Bring plenty of water and a snack and a sunscreen/hat. Be prepared to get dirty. Gloves and tools will be provided. In the unlikely event of heavy rain, the restoration will be cancelled and you can sign up for a restoration event scheduled for a later date. We will notify you by email in the event of a cancellation.
NOTE: Request a parking pass for the Heal the Bay/Mountains Restoration Trust restoration event at the front gate. We'll meet in the lower parking lot at the picnic tables near the restroom. If you are coming South on Las Virgenes Road, the park entrance is 0.2 miles south of Mulholland. If you are coming North on Malibu Canyon Road, the park entrance is 1.5 miles north of the crossing with Piuma. There is another entrance for Malibu Creek SP/Tapia south of the main entrance, 0.2 miles north of Piuma-- do not enter here but continue on another 1.3 miles to the main entrance.
