Ways to Heal
Soak It In

Most of Los Angeles is covered with impermeable surfaces like parking lots, streets, and buildings. What happens when water hits an impermeable surface? Instead of infiltrating into the ground where it replenishes the ground water, it runs off the street, along the gutter and into the storm drain system.

Make your property more storm water friendly:

Plant, don’t pave - Using plants, grasses, and other permeable surfaces is an easy way to prevent and treat runoff flowing to the ocean.

Direct rain gutter flow towards lawn & garden - water can be absorbed and naturally treated by the soil instead of adding to urban runoff

Restoration efforts - Support community efforts to acquire open space and restore existing creeks and river habitats. Open space means habitat for native animals and plants, and a place for us all to enjoy nature.
