Cleanup Captains wanted! Help run our monthly cleanups or a Coastal Cleanup Day site.
Ambassadors Help Spread the Word
No matter where you live, you have an impact on the ocean and water quality. A piece of trash can travel up to 65 miles through the L.A. stormdrain system to the ocean. Trash on our streets and in our neighborhoods contributes to urban blight. When you remove harmful and unsightly pollution, you protect your surrounding neighborhood and our beaches.
So get involved and be a part of the solution. Teach others, lead cleanups events and help spread the word. Become an Ambassador today!
Speakers Bureau volunteers give presentations to both schools and adult groups on the causes and
consequences of ocean pollution and inspire people to take action. It’s
free, educational and interactive: Request a Speaker.
Note: If you are interested in an educational engagement opportunity for your business or company, please contact Danie Eley. For information about school presentations at our Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, please contact Nick Fash.
Learn About Pollution
Urban runoff is the largest source of pollution to Southern California’s coastal waters.
You know your neighborhood the best. Join our Community Advocates program and help spread Heal the Bay's message.
Community Advocates represent Heal the Bay at local festivals and community gatherings. This is a great opportunity for those who wish to speak directly to the public about the issues that affect our local waters and watersheds.
Captains help run our monthly "Nothin' But Sand" cleanups or host their own Coastal Cleanup Day site.
Responsibilities include set-up, handing out supplies, registration, talking with participants about the causes and consquences of ocean pollution, giving cleanup safety speech and providing instructions for cleanups.
