New Inland Sites

Although the name of the event includes the word "Coastal", in the past couple of years it has become much more than that. People who live inland often feel a disconnect from the beach and don’t realize that a shocking 80% of marine debris comes from their own inland communities. Part of Coastal Cleanup Day is education and raising awareness about where trash ultimately ends up. We are all part of the problem whether we know it or not and by learning about marine debris and its effects we can become part of the solution.

For this reason we have had a big inland push in the past couple of years. The City of Los Angeles has some awesome new sites this year as well as some old ones. Check out some of new sites:

Scout Patches — Purchase Online

Scout Leaders! Heal the Bay patches are here and are now available for online purchasing! For Cub, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, the patch represents the associated training, activities and accomplishments of completing a Heal the Bay Cleanup. E-Waste Collection at Will Rogers Temescal Site

Will Rogers Beach at Temescal Canyon Rd. will now include an e-waste collection center for volunteers to bring their electronics to be recycled. ASL Recycle will be there to unload your cars in a drive-thru setup at the south end of Will Rogers State Beach off of Temescal Canyon Drive. If you plan on attending this cleanup site, bring down your old and unneeded computers, cell phones, appliances or any other electronics you may no longer want. So before they end up in the ocean, bring them to ASL, the responsible and eco-friendly solution to get rid of your trash.

CCD Locations on Google Maps

This year, all of the Coastal Cleanup Day locations are on Google Maps! There are separate maps for each category of cleanups: Beach, Inland and Dive & Kayak, along with an additional map showing all locations. Now you can find out precisely where a cleanup site is located and get detailed directions as well!
