Check out the volunteer opportunities below — no experience is necessary and training is provided. Get involved today!

Heal the Bay’s volunteer opportunities come in every shape and size. Projects take place at the beach, in the office, at a school and even up a creek. Some last only a few hours, while others require more of a time commitment. You can volunteer by yourself, with your friends, your family, your company, school or community group. Nothin' But Sand Join with hundreds to help ensure that there is Nothin' But Sand on our local beaches by picking up trash and recyclables.   Low

10AM-12PM; 3rd Saturday of the Month
Adopt-A-Beach Schools, community groups, and families can help clean up the bay by adopting a site and cleaning it three times a year

Corporate Beach Healer Cleanup Is your businesses exploring ways to include corporate social and environmental responsibility in your practices? Learn about Heal the Bay's cleanup and sponsorship opportunities. No Training.

1 Cleanup; Anytime

One-Time Beach Cleanup Want to get started volunteering, but can't commit to three times a year? Sign up for a One-time Cleanup. No Training.

1 Cleanup; Wednesdays or Thursdays every week

Coastal Cleanup Day Join over 12,000 volunteers at one of over 70 cleanup sites, inland and coastal, throughout L.A. County. This massive international event is held every third Saturday of September.

Cleanup Captains Help lead and coordinate community cleanups and restorations. Captains teach participants about the causes and consequences of pollution and provide them with cleanup supplies, data cards, and safety instructions. Orientation + 2 Hours of Training

Stream Team Creek Restorations Help return the Malibu Creek Watershed to its natural state and preserve native plants and wildlife. Remove invasive vegetation and plant native species.

9 AM - 1 PM ; 3rd Sunday of the Month

Stream Team - Citizen Scientists Join Stream Team's water chemistry crew and test the water quality of the Malibu Creek watershed to make sure polluted runoff isn't entering streams and affecting aquatic life. Orientation + 8 Hours of Training

Education & Outreach

HtB Ambassadors / Embajadores Spread the word by representing Heal the Bay at local festivals and community events. Ambassadors staff booths, set up displays, distribute materials, and educate the English and Spanish Speaking public. Orientation + 2 Hours of Training

Speakers Bureau Do you like educating and inspiring people? Speakers Bureau members teach school, business, faith and community groups about stormwater runoff and its impact on coastal waters and watersheds. Orientation + 12 Hours of Training

8 Talks / Year

Santa Monica Pier Aquarium Educate students, teachers, and visitors about the local marine environment. Assist staffers, maintain the tanks, care for the animals. Or meet, greet and inform the public during visiting hours 12 Hours of Training

Office Support & More

Office Support Office Volunteers help assist Heal the Bay staff with special projects, mailings, data entry, and general clerical duties. No Training.

Internships Internships are available throughout the year to interested adults seeking environmental experience or college credit. Internships are generally unpaid. Apply Online
