Get into the spirit of the season at Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium with a “fintastic” Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. The Aquarium, beach level at the Santa Monica Pier, has spooky, family friendly activities planned both days.
Join author and actress Jaclyn Friedlander as she reads from her newest book Friends with Fins: The Fish Capturing Pirate. We will also be showing the original Friends with Fins cartoon. Meet and greet with the author and book signing to follow.
Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium kicks off the New Year with a grand opening January 18 of the remodeled Dorothy Green Room. The public is invited to visit the Aquarium for free, sponsored by Cirque du Soleil.

Celebrate the Annual Migration of the Gray Whale
Whale of a Weekend highlights the annual migration of the Pacific gray whale, which completes one of the longest migrations of any species, traveling 10,000 to 14,000 miles round trip between the arctic seas and the warm lagoons of Baja California, Mexico. This migration takes the whales past the Santa Monica Pier - sometimes within viewing distance from the west end observation deck.
