Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium invites artists to find their inspiration at the Aquarium during Artist Night.
For the second time this year, the marine education center invites participants to sketch, paint, and take photos of any of the marine center’s more than 100 local species on exhibit, including our new seahorse exhibit.
This two-hour photography/art session will be available to 25 participants only on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please RSVP by calling 310-393-6149, x 106. Suggested donations of $5 per person are welcome.
Aquarium volunteer training nights for those accepted into the training:
June 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 29th, and 30th from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Background on our volunteer acceptance process: All people interested in volunteering at the Aquarium (15 years and older) must go through our application and scheduled interview process. You may fill out an application at anytime, but your last day to fill out an application to be considered for June training is May 27th. Interviews for June training begin May 14th, 2011. Our volunteer manager will go over your application and contact you to set-up an interview. The volunteer training sessions have limited availability and are very competative. Based on the application, potential volunteer availability, and interview, those chosen get to participate in our Aquarium training and become volunteers. Volunteers may only miss one night of training.
We ask that all volunteers give a year commitment of at least 100 hours.
If you would like to learn more about our volunteer program and get to know the facility we invite you to join our next Aquarium Orientation/Open House on May 12th, 2011 from 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm.
