Get your hands dirty and help restore the Malibu Creek Watershed!
After four long years of mapping streams throughout the Malibu Creek Watershed, the Stream Team has set their sights on fixing the problems. With funding from the State Coastal Conservancy, Heal the Bay will begin fixing large problem areas that were previously mapped. Stream Team Creek Restorations replace invasive vegetation with native species in the Malibu Creek watershed.
It is extremely important that we restore affected areas in the watershed to preserve the native plants and wildlife. There's a tremendous amount of restoration of the watershed that needs to take place and we are counting on the help of our incredible volunteers to make this happen. This will be hard work but at the end of this project our streams will be markedly improved.
The restorations are generally held once a month on a Saturday, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. All those 14 years of age or older are welcome to participate in the restorations, but each participant must sign liability waiver forms (available at the event). Participants under the age of 18 must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Those under 18 who will not have a parent or guardian present at the event must print the waiver form beforehand, have it signed and bring it with them to the restoration.
To find when Stream Restorations are being held, just check the schedule on the right-side of this page. The restorations are also listed on the main events Calendar.
So come out, grab a weeder and help Heal the Bay restore this incredible watershed for people and wildlife for years to come!
