Visit the Aquarium to discover more about the amazing animals and habitats of the Santa Monica Bay, as well as the impacts that humans have on the marine environment — and what you can do to help!
Stop in anytime during public hours and explore the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium and all that we have to offer our visitors!
Whether you’re reading books to your child from the Kids’ Corner, watching our sharks chow down their Sunday dinner or getting your hands wet at our touch tanks filled with tide pool creatures, there is something happening for everyone at the Aquarium.
In addition, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium has a full slate of scheduled recurring and one-time events for the public:
Kids’ Corner
Always open during public hours
Kids’ Corner is a favorite destination of families with younger children. This cozy marine themed area is filled with toys, books, puzzles and games. Budding young thespians enjoy bringing sea creatures to life in our puppet theater as our curious octopus watches nearby. Guests are invited to add their own special touch to the Kids’ Corner with donations of books, games or toys.
Special note: City National Bank sponsored the recent renovation of the Aquarium’s Kids' Corner. The City National Bank Kids’ Corner was remade into a comfortable, inviting, interactive space full of books, games and puzzles centered around a marine theme. City National’s generous support allows the highly utilized Kids’ Corner to provide children with a unique experience where they can learn more about the ocean environment and be inspired to help protect it.
Naturalist Presentations
Saturdays, 3:30pm
New in September 2005! Join us every Saturday for a naturalist presentation and feeding at 3:30 pm. Learn awesome facts about the animals. Watch us feed the octopus, the fish in our kelp forest exhibit, or any of the other amazing animals here at the aquarium! Come check out this exciting opportunity to see our ocean animals feed!
Shark Sundays
Sundays, 3:30pm: Shark feeding and presentation
Movies shown at scheduled intervals on Sundays
Shark Sundays are a favorite weekly feature at the aquarium. Short shark-themed films are shown at scheduled intervals throughout the afternoon. At 3:30pm you can listen to an informative presentation about these often misunderstood animals while our horn and swell sharks cruise around the tank, noses out of the water, mouths open, anticipating the meal to come. Everyone is also invited to make a fun shark craft project.
