Ochre Sea Star
Where do I live? I can be found on rocky shores and tidepools from British Columbia to Baja California, from above the low-tide line down to 90m deep.
What's special about me? I can regrow my arms! I'm also a keystone species, meaning I provide useful clues about the health of my surrounding environment.
Swell Shark Pup
Where do I live? You can find me from Central California down to Southern Mexico. I love algae-covered rock bottoms, and can be happy in water from 5-457m deep!
What's special about me? True to my name, I can swell up to double my size by gulping air or water if I'm feeling scared! When I'm not being a scaredy-shark, I like getting cozy with my tankmates.
Where do I live? If you're lucky, you can spot me from Central California down to Mexico, from the low-tide zone down to about 20m. Give me a rocky outcropping or crevice to hide in and I'll be happy.
What's special about me? Some say I'm as smart as a housecat...but when was the last time you saw Mittens unscrew the lid of a peanut butter jar?! I thought so.
Where do I live? I'm not too picky: Open waters worldwide.
What's special about me? I change color based on what I eat. For example, if I've been bingeing on brine shrimp, I might have an orange hue.
