This year, for the first time ever, the TED Prize went not to an individual but to an idea on which our planet's future depends: the City 2.0. For one day only, the TEDx platform will harness the power of people across the globe to encourage them to host a TEDx event themed "City 2.0" event at their favorite local spots, featuring the brightest local minds and biggest hearts.
Speaker's include Heal the Bay's own Director of Education Tara Treiber as well as Joseph Harper (Asst. Head of School at MUSE School), Tanishia Harris-Wright (community engagement consultant), Jonathan Mooney (City of Santa Monica’s Community and Cultural Services), public artist Jason Manley, Lucy Dyke (City of Santa Monica's Bike Initiative), Tara Griffith (Santa Monica High School's Bike It! Initiative), Amanda Eaken (NRDC's Sustainable Communities Deputy Director), Kim Braun (City of Santa Monica's Recycling Manager) and teacher Odysseus Bostick.
Doors open at 3:00pm for refreshments and networking, with the formal program commencing at 3:45pm. Please take advantage of the pre and post-event networking time to meet new people, discuss theme topics or reunite with friends. The event formally ends at 7:00pm with an informal post-TEDx gathering next door at Bodega Wine Bar. There will be a Bike Valet at our event, so we encourage you to cycle!
