Attention K-5th grade Educators! We will be hosting free Teacher Professional Development Workshops on Saturday, March 16th, at the SEA Lab in Redondo Beach. LAUSD salary points are given for attendance at the workshop(s).
The workshop times are 9:30 am -3:30 pm and we will provide a delicious, healthy lunch. The workshop(s) are part of our Key to the Sea program and are available to K-5 teachers as well as informal educators. Past participants have included teachers from all over LA County and educators from Natural History Museum of LA County, El Dorado Nature Center, and many more.
Workshop I will explore marine conservation, watersheds, local marine life, the seashore environment, coastal birds, pollution prevention, and much more. You will also receive a supply-filled tote bag and a curriculum guide. Workshop II will build upon the previous workshop, exploring new topics such as waves and tides, sustainable seafood, habitats and organism adaptations, in-depth sandy beach environment, and so much more. You will also receive 'make-and-take' teaching tools, a curriculum guide, and a snazzy Key to the Sea t-shirt.
Register online for Workshop I or II please fill out a registration form. After attending a workshop, you are welcome to schedule a Key to the Sea field trip with your K-5th grade class to any of our four partnering aquaria. Our partners include: The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro, The Roundhouse Aquarium in Manhattan Beach, The SEA Lab in Redondo Beach, and the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.
