More Ways to Give

Dedicate a gift

A gift to Heal the Bay is the perfect way to show someone how important they are while at the same time making a significant difference in our Bay. When you dedicate a donation on behalf of or in memory of a person, you can recognize an accomplishment (e.g. graduation), celebrate an event (e.g. birthday, wedding or holiday), or honor someone's memory. If you like, Heal the Bay will send notification of your dedication gift along with your personal note to the person of your choosing.

Friendraise

Fundraising for Heal the Bay is now easier than ever! Whether for special events, volunteer opportunities or celebrating personal milestones, your efforts to collect money directly protects clean water. Simply sign up with FirstGiving and reach out to your friends and family through email, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. You'll be surprised how your network wants to help the environment as much as you do. Plus, Heal the Bay offers prizes for special Friendraising events. Learn more about Friendraising.

Bequest to heal the bay

Has protecting clean water been a lifelong cause for you? Make sure your charitable legacy lives on after you are gone with a gift to Heal the Bay through your will, called a "bequest." General Bequests are legacies left to causes that come from the general value of the estate. Specific Bequests are made when a particular item or property is bequeathed for a designated purpose. Contingency Bequests allow you to leave a portion of your estate to Heal the Bay if your beneficiary does not survive you. Consult our Sample Bequests (PDF) to learn how to give to Heal the Bay.

Aquadoption

Whether you foster an animal for yourself, a classroom, or a grandparent, Aquadoption at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium is a special way to connect with an animal and gain a greater understanding of the amazing ocean habitat in our Bay. Check out photos and fun facts about each of the nine local marine animals currently available. By participating in this program, you make a commitment to keeping the Santa Monica Bay and its animals healthy and safe.

Matching Gifts

Many companies, like Disney, Coca-Cola or American Express, match employee donations. If you work for one of the following companies listed here, your employer will double, triple or even quadruple your donation to Heal the Bay. Learn more about matching gifts. Or enroll in our workplace giving campaign for automatic payroll deductions. Contact our partner EarthShare to see if your company offers this benefit. Use designation code 21034 for California State Employees Charitable Campaign (CSECC) deduction or designation code 74546 for the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
