NATIONAL TOUR BEGINS OCTOBER 15 AT UCLA ROYCE HALL
Performance and purpose collide in a world stage premiere that illuminates the plight of the Pacific Islands. Scientists report the vulnerable coral atolls of Kiribati Tokelau and Tuvalu are already experiencing rising sea levels as the result of global warming and climate change. Thirty-six dancers and musicians express their deep connection to nature and their ancestral past through multi-part harmonies, poetry, and gracious movement, cascading over dynamic rhythms and inspiring us all to be better stewards of our shared planet.
Science and Art in a Climate of Change: A Dialogue of Nations
"Science and Art in a Climate of Change: A Dialogue of Nations" will explore the very real threats to South Pacific islands, the "canaries in the coal mine" of climate change.
Deep in the South Pacific, the island nations of Kiribati, Tokelau, and Tuvalu are among the first to feel the direct effects of climate change as they submerge under rising sea levels.
The dialogue is in conjunction with the Water Is Rising tour, which presents music and dance from the Pacific Island atools of Tuvalu, Tokelau and Kiribati.
