Heal the Bay is hosting our first big holiday festival this year! The Fall Festival at WAYS "Reading and Fitness Park" is a fun-filled event for parents to bring their children, meet neighbors, and learn about the work and service that local community groups provide in their area. This Halloween event will have pumpkins, hay-bales, jack-o-lanterns, and (potentially!) chickens. Activities include pumpkin carving and lots of fun arts and crafts. The empty lot in South L.A. where the Fall Festival is held will eventually be WAYS Park.

Honu Yoga owner and designer Nicole Sherman is an ocean lover and advocate for sea turtles. She paired her two passions for exclusive yoga shirts available for both men and women.
Through the end of the year, 20 percent of the limited edition Heal the Bay yoga shirts will benefit HtB.

Generation Water is an award-winning, social entrepreneurial organization focused on reducing water usage. Since 2009, Generation Water has conducted over 240 water audits and irrigation surveys, inventoried over 350 irrigation controllers and 5,300 valves, cataloged over 25,000 sprinklers (including 10,000 that were malfunctioning or broken), installed over 125 rain gardens, and trained over 250 youth and young adults.

Garden in the Sea (Jardin en el Mar), screening as part of DocuWeeks, is a documentary about saving Mexico's Sea of Cortez. Over four years, the director followed Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias to the Sea of Cortez where she was commissioned to create an underwater sculpture that would gradually help enhance marine life. The film not only talks about the role of art but also about the wider environment.
Each year, people around the world come together on the third Saturday in September to clean local beaches, parks, schools, river banks and neighborhoods. It’s the largest volunteer day on the planet, and we hope you’ll be there for the next Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept.15, 2012, 9 a.m. until noon.
The third annual L.A. Craft Beer Crawl will take place on Saturday, August 18, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Heal the Bay. Attendees will have well over 50 craft beers to sample across seven different bars and restaurants all within walking distance in Downtown Los Angeles.
Update: The date has been changed from August 25 to Sept 22, and the location has been confirmed for Homeboy Industries offices near downtown Los Angeles.
