Stream Team volunteer training will be held on May 11, 2013 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for those accepted into the training. Stream Team volunteers conduct monthly water quality monitoring at 12 sites in the Malibu Creek Watershed in the Santa Monica Mountains.
UPDATE: The April 14 Malibu Creek State Park Restoration is cancelled due to rain
Due to concerns about volunteer safety and possible habitat damage during wet weather, we have decided to cancel the restoration event. These events occur the second Saturday of every month, so please feel free to sign up to volunteer for a future restoration event.
Interested in a great volunteer opportunity? Come join Heal the Bay’s Stream Team November 21st in Malibu Creek State Park where you will learn skills needed to join our water chemistry sampling team. Water chemistry volunteers meet the first Sunday of every month and the data collected is essential in protecting water quality in the Malibu Creek Watershed.
Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older and willing to make a long term commitment to our program.
Event is FULL - No more RSVP's are being accepted.
Note: Training will be canceled in the event of rain.
If you live or recreate in the Malibu Creek watershed and are concerned about water quality, come be part of Heal the Bay’s new Stream Watch program.
Through Stream Watch, volunteers will help Heal the Bay assess and protect watershed health in the Malibu Creek Watershed. Upstream pollution, trash, and some land uses are negatively impacting habitat and stream water quality in the Malibu Creek Watershed. As a Stream Watch volunteer, you will help Heal the Bay be a dedicated field presence in the watershed by looking for and documenting ecosystem impairments. Volunteers will be given the training and tools needed to help identify small problems before they escalate and cause significant habitat degradation in the watershed.
Volunteers must have a digital camera and be willing to commit a few hours each month to exploring the Malibu Creek Watershed.
If you are interested, we will be holding our first training on Oct 27th at 7:00 PM at Heal the Bay’s main office. Spaces are limited for this training so please RSVP ahead of time by e-mailing Kevin Jontz or calling him at 310.451.1500 x141.
