Free Sundays in February Courtesy of Cirque du Soleil
As partners in promoting community education, Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium and Cirque du Soleil invite the public to visit the Aquarium for free any Sunday in February.
Cirque du Soleil is sponsoring free admission to our marine science center during public hours, from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Join us for our fourth annual Underwater Parks Day, celebrating the implementation of marine protected areas (known as MPAs) in Southern California.
Visitors will receive a free canvas tote bag and will be encouraged to create their own underwater parks scene on their bags at the Aquarium’s craft station. Interactive games and activities are designed for all to learn how to help improve the health of the ocean.
Please join students from the Otis College of Art and Design at Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium for the opening of “The Divine Seas,” an exhibition of illustrations and mythological stories of sea creatures.

This year's annual tribute to the ocean at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium focuses on the four habitats of the Santa Monica Bay: the sandy bottom, the kelp forest, the rocky shore and the open ocean. Through games, arts and crafts projects, wildlife observation, music and naturalist presentations and many other special programs, visitors can explore each of these unique environments while gathering fun facts about the animals that inhabit them.

Saturday only - Photographer Alexander Jaffe
Underwater photographer Alexander Jaffe presents Local Colors: Habitats of the Santa Monica Bay. Alexander, an Aquarium volunteer, provides an up-close look at Santa Monica Bay marine life as he shares his diving adventures through underwater photography.
Sunday only - Director Douglas Rowell
Douglas Rowell, director and executive producer of the animation project for Joel Harper's beloved children's book "All the Way to the Ocean" will present an animated music video related to the project featuring original music by legendary performer Burning Spear and lyrics by Harper. The session will also include a discussion suitable for all ages about society's impact on the oceans and how we can each do more to improve the heath of the marine environment. The session will include give-a-way of copies of the book and other prizes to children who participate in a related ocean knowledge contest.
