The County of Monterey Environmental Health Agency monitored eight locations on a weekly basis from April through October, from as far upcoast as the Monterey Beach Hotel at Roberts Lake in Seaside to a downcoast location of Carmel City Beach in Carmel-bythe- Sea.

During the summer AB411 months, all but one monitoring location in Monterey County received an A grade (Figures 26 and 27). Stillwater Cove at the Beach and Tennis Club, after brief improvement on our last annual report, received a C grade during the 2006 AB411. As its name implies, Stillwater Cove generally has poor circulation and little tidal flushing, usually resulting in the worst water quality in the county.
With Monterey County only monitoring weekly from April through October, there was insufficient non-AB411 dry weather and wet weather data for analysis.
An interesting item to note is that Lover’s Point Park received an A grade this past year, although researchers from Stanford University found sources of human fecal bacteria and frequently high bacteria densities in a study at the same beach.
