Del
Norte County monitored three locations in the Crescent
City area: Pebble Beach, Crescent City Harbor, and
Crescent Beach. Historically, the County of
Humboldt was implementing the water quality monitoring
program for Del Norte County, however this has changed
and the County of Del Norte now subcontracts the monitoring
program to the Yurok tribe. Monitoring is conducted
from April through October on a weekly basis, and during
the winter season there is limited or no monitoring conducted.
This monitoring program is funded by the
Environmental Protection Agency's National Beach Guidance and Performance Criteria
for Recreational Waters.
Unfortunately,
Heal the Bay was unable to obtain any data
from Del Norte County in time to include in this report.
Sewage
Spill Summary
The county did not provide Heal the Bay with a summary
of beach closures due to sewage spills.
